LENGTHS 1/4

What is the general shape of the guardrail?

This is the shape of the guardrail as seen from above. This information helps you understand the general layout of your project and anticipate the number of sections required.

Choose the shape that most closely matches your actual configuration:

  • straight if the guardrail is straight,
  • L, U or Z if the guardrail has one or more returns,
  • complex if your project has several angles, changes of direction or special geometry.

This stage serves only to define the overall logic of the layout. Technical details will be checked later.

Railing length

Don't worry, this is just the first step. We simply need the raw lengths of the periphery, without any complex calculations.

You enter the length of each section (A, B, C, etc.), corresponding to the straight parts of your guardrail. Once the order has been validated, a technician will contact you within 48 hours to check the layout with you.

As a general rule, we allow for :

  • a gap of around 10 mm between each glass pane,
  • a gap of around 10 mm between the glass pane and the wall, when the guardrail is in contact with a wall.

These principles are detailed on the Glass railing sizing page.

GLASS 2/4

Glass height

The height is the distance measured from the base of the glass to the top.

A1.jpg

For guardrails, the regulatory height is 100 cm.
For swimming-pool fences, the standard requires a minimum height of 110 cm.

These values ensure regulatory compliance and user safety. For more details, see Glass railing dimensions.

Glass appearance

Clear glass is the most commonly used, accounting for around 80% of projects. It offers a good balance between transparency, aesthetics and budget.

A6.jpg

Extra-clear glass has a significantly less greenish tint, particularly visible on the edges of the glass. It is recommended when aesthetics and maximum transparency are paramount.

Opaque glass is chosen for privacy, to conceal an area or create a visual separation.

These differences are detailed in Sizing glass railings.

Glass thickness

Tempered laminated glass with four layers of PVB, guaranteeing safety and resistance.

A7.jpg

Glass 88.4 (17.5 mm) is the most widely used and is ideal for standard heights.

Glass 1010.4 (21.5 mm) is more robust and recommended for non-standard heights or reinforced stresses.

Further information is available in Railing glass.

Glass finish

Finishing refers to the treatment of the glass edge.

A3.jpg

The JPP finish (flat polished joints) is the most popular, as it offers a clean, even finish that's pleasant to the touch.

A rough finish without JPP is possible on certain projects, but is more technical and less aesthetic.

Find out more about finishes in the Glass for Railings section.

ACCESSORIES 3/4

What mounting hardware would you like?

A5.jpg

Around 80% of customers choose chemical sealants, which prevent the concrete from splintering due to the compression of mechanical dowels.

This solution is recommended for reliable, long-lasting fastening, particularly on concrete substrates.

Details of our fastening solutions can be found in Glass railing fastening.

Handrail

A2.jpg

The handrail protects the upper part of the glass, facilitates glass alignment and extends the life of the guardrail.

On the other hand, it slightly modifies the aesthetics. Indoors, they are often less essential than outdoors.

All our models can be viewed in the Accessories category.

Tools

We supply a wrench for driving in the clamping wedges, to position and lock the glazing correctly during installation.

Handling suction cups are not supplied and must be provided by the installer if necessary.

TRANSPORT & SERVICE 4/4

Cost of transport

Delivery is carried out by charter, with a vehicle fitted with a tailgate suitable for transporting glass.

Deliveries are made by appointment only. Full conditions are detailed on the Delivery page.

Contact with installer

If you wish, we can put you in touch with a partner installer free of charge.
